Senior Copywriter

Do you love producing big ideas but also don’t mind rolling up your sleeves and doing the tactical work needed to get to the finish line? TBC is looking for a solutions-oriented senior creative with conceptual development experience combined with a copywriting foundation who can take wordsmithing from concept to client deliverable. Our ideal new teammate will be comfortable leading a presentation for a room of clients and colleagues while willing to do the writing behind the scenes. We work with clients large and small within a variety of industries, with audiences including B2C, D2C, B2B and so on.

The bottom line? Your thinking should be conceptual and strategic, your writing fresh and inventive, and your work ethic dependable.

The General Criteria:

  • Experienced writer comfortable with working across a variety of mediums (website copy, social media, business proposals, ad campaigns, videos, and more).
  • Strong team player: craft big ideas and think conceptually while connecting the dots with and for the supporting teams.
  • Collaborate with Designers to develop visuals.
  • Comfortable with being a client partner, not just the agency ‘behind-the-scenes’ writing engine.
  • Foster external relationships with a deep understanding of clients, their business needs, and our role in their success. Establish full client trust in your creative instincts and decisions.
  • Determined multi-tasker: you excel at working with multiple clients at once.
  • Deep understanding of the creative content that fuels social platforms.
  • Participate in new business proposals, client presentations and selling creative concepts internally and externally.
  • Generate brand ideas across all channels, including traditional, digital, print, and experiential.
  • Interpret creative briefs and facilitate client discovery workshops in order to generate concepts.
  • Handle both long-form and short-form assignments in any media context.
  • Write in a variety of styles and develop a range of brand voices that reach our clients’ audiences in disruptive ways.
  • Effectively work within assigned timeframes and budgets.
  • Participate in agency thought leadership.
  • Proven strategic leadership in fast-paced creative environments.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of Agency experience
  • 3+ years of experience as a creative project lead
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing or other related fields
  • Portfolio highlighting a variety of copy-driven work within the marketing industry

It’s not by accident that 60% of our team has been at TBC for over 5 years!
We take pride fostering an Agency culture that allows our employees to be fulfilled both professionally and personally- an approach that led to TBC being named a Top Workplace by the Baltimore Sun in 2021. While the approach is ever evolving to meet the needs of our team, the following four Cultural Pillars are foundational: Social, Philanthropic, Professional Development, and Personal Enrichment. To follow are examples of how these Cultural Pillars come to life:

Personal Enrichment

  • Unlimited PTO
  • Flexible work arrangements (office/remote/hybrid)
  • 9 paid holidays
  • 401K matching
  • Flex Time Policy
  • Phone reimbursement policy
  • Paid parental leave
  • Agency closed between Christmas and New Year
  • Summer Fridays

Professional Development

  • Lunch and Learns
  • Cross-department Training
  • Professional Memberships
  • Subject Matter Conferences
  • Industry expert 1:1 Training

Philanthropic

Throughout each year, TBC collectively supports various charities that are important to the Agency and our team members. In the past these have included:

  • United Efforts
  • House of Ruth
  • Beans & Bread
  • Epilepsy Foundation
  • Midtown Academy
  • NAACP Legal Defense Fund

Social

We have a committee that’s dedicated to making sure TBC isn’t all work and no play. With input from all corners of the agency, they plan activities and events all year long. One of our favorites is the Annual Cornhole Tournament, but the committee is also known for planning awesome:

  • Potluck Cooking Contests
  • In-person offsite and Zoom happy hours
  • Football (and Fútbol) Viewing Parties
  • Scavenger Hunts
  • Wine Tastings
  • Fitness Fridays

Last, but not least, Kindness Matters
We’ve learned most agency folks fall into one of two categories: the ones who refill the coffee maker and the ones who don’t. We far prefer the former, not just because we love coffee, but because considerate humans make considerate co-workers. Before we’re TBC’s copywriters or media planners, we’re people. Kindness isn’t always easy and patience takes practice, but when we prioritize goodwill, we do great work we can all feel good about together.
